Robert Wolhorn

My name is Robert Wolhorn and I live in the beautiful Lower Rhine region near the Dutch border. I started fishing at the age of 8. However, I only discovered fly fishing in 2010. I enjoy fishing for pike in the Netherlands, for sea trout on the German and Danish Baltic coast, for pollack and grayling in Norway and for salmon in Ireland and Sweden. I also enjoy fishing for brown trout in German streams and rivers.
I started fly tying almost at the same time. This fascinated me so much that I took part in the German Open Fly Tying Championship  in 2015, where I took 1st place. I took 2nd place in 2016.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to set up my own fly tying room, which I regularly use alone or with friends. We talk shop or plan the next fishing trip.
I love combining different materials and tying techniques and creating different flies, which of course are then tested on the water and modified if necessary. In autumn and winter, I like to tie pike, perch and sea trout flies. In spring and summer, dry and wet flies and nymphs. I also like to tie salmon flies if necessary.

I regularly give fly tying courses for beginners and advanced tyers at Finest Fly Fishing in Bedburg-Hau. Here I try to pass on my enthusiasm for fly tying and am happy to provide advice and assistance to all participants.

I am looking forward to being part of the EWF and presenting my skills and passion there.
