Silja Longhurst

 Silja is a passionate flyfisher and a Certified Fly-casting Instructor in both 1- and 2hand fly-casting within the Federation of Fly Fishers (www.fedflyfishers.org). She grew up in Germany close to a small stream south of Hamburg. In addition to her love for dryfly fishing, not a single season goes by where she doesn't fish for Atlantic Salmon on River Skjern, in the West of Ireland and in Scotland. For 18 years, Silja has been fishing for brackish pike and sea trout in her home waters of the Baltic Sea.

Silja is giving classes in both 1- and 2hand fly-casting in Germany and Scandinavia. Holding a degree in teaching and a Master title in Dance and Movement Analysis, it comes just naturally for Silja to combine flyfishing and analysing movement. In her fly-casting courses Silja always tries to teach her students the third dimension. Ever heard of the nexus between body, movement, space? Silja lives and teaches it. :-D

Silja is undefeated Danish Champion in Flycasting and has won several medals in the 15ft and 16ft Spey competitions at the World Championships in Flycasting. Together with her family Silja manages BalticFlyfisher - a family run business distributing ECHO Flyfishing Products, AirLock and OPST-SKAGIT products throughout Europe.
With husband Lasse Karlsson, Silja runs her own fly-casting school Beyond-Flyfishing (www.beyond-flyfishing.com) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Being a Certified Angling Guide, she offers guided flyfishing trips for both the avid coastal - and salmon flyfisher.
