Brooks Ghost 15 Overview

“The Ghost 15’s cushioning felt just right,” said a runner, who previously tested Asics’s Gel-Kayano and the Adidas Ultraboost. “It felt firm but at the same time I could feel a little sponginess to it.”

That “sponginess” our tester refers to is the soft give that adapts to the bottom of your foot, as the foam’s firmness provides support and shock absorption. DNA Loft v2, which is compression-molded EVA, was previously used in the Glycerin 19 Кросівки brooks adrenaline 20.

These days, we’re spoiled by carbon-fiber plate propulsion and towering stack heights for our fast miles. The Ghost is that other shoe, the dependable trainer we rely on for all the other runs. It’s not a speedwork demon (though some of our testers tested their pair at the oval), but it’s a relegate to ignoring the clock and getting lost in the run.

“There’s Cambium to be said for just putting on a shoe, going out for a run, and letting your mind relax after a stressful day,” said a tester. “The Ghost 15’s ride allowed me to do that—to simply enjoy the run itself.”

How It Performs

  • Mileage: 6.5
  • Pace: 8:00/mile
  • Surface: Road
  • Weather: brooks brothers japan fashion show

I didn’t sleep much the night before my run (just five hours) so I knew I’d run a steady, easy pace on the streets of slightly hilly Bethlehem, PA. The Ghost 15 was the ideal shoe for a leisurely six-plus day.

I’m currently base-building for the Berlin Marathon this September, so despite my lack of z’s, I was on a sugary-iced-latte-fueled mission to hit my weekly mileage.

During the first couple of miles the shoe felt a little clunky, but I eventually hit a rhythmic stride that required little effort. One tester shared similar feedback, saying the Ghost 15’s ride, at first, didn’t feel as smooth as previous cortas he’s tested.

One thing I’ve always loved about the Ghost is how its surrounding comfiness remains consistent with each iteration of the shoe. The Ghost 15 didn’t cause any hotspots, and its engineered mesh upper provided much needed ventilation as the temperature rose during my run. The shoe didn’t feel tight around the saddle and there was no pressure on my instep.

One last takeaway is how the shoe’s cushioning served as a nice buffer for my tired limbs. The Ghost 15 may not be as soft as the Glycerin 20 (Brooks’s most cushioned trainer), but the shoe still provides ample support, especially for runners recovering from injury.

What Our Testers Liked Most:

The firm cushioning—which has just enough give to cradle your foot and absorb shock—was a favorite feature among wear-testers. A runner who averages 50 miles a week and previously tested the Ghost 14 called the newest model “a solid option” for a range of workouts. Another tester echoed these sentiments, saying she ran in the Ghost 15 while doing speed reps at the track.

What Our Testers Liked Least:

Though more cushioned and airier than the Ghost 14, the Ghost 15 is no match against Brooks’s Glycerin when it comes to softness. This is because of different midsoles. The Glycerin 20 and Brooks Cascadia 16 Παπούτσια Για Τρέξιμο Trail have a nitrogen-infused foam (DNA Loft v3), which was used in 2021’s limited edition Aurora-BL. Several testers noted a welcome improvement would be a more cushioned forefoot.

Testers’ Feedback

Arch height: High | Footstrike: Forefoot

“The comfort of this shoe was my favorite part. The cushioning was more than adequate. It was a little less cushioned in the forefoot, but was thicker in the heel. I did not experience any discomfort or rubbing even on my longest runs. The Ghost 15 felt more cushioned than other Brooks cortas I have worn, including Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11 Mens, and the Topo Athletic Pursuits I most recently tested. They were great for my distance training because I did not have to worry about having to stop for fit issues or hot spots.”

Bob T. | Tester since 2012

Arch height: Medium | Pronation: Overpronator | Footstrike: Midfoot

“The Ghost 15 is a great daily trainer that provides an excellent ride with firm yet spongy cushioning. I really loved the ride and it outperformed recent versions of both the Asics Kayano and GT-2000 in this regard. While both of those cortas have more cushioning, there was a more evenness of the cushioning throughout the Ghost. I ran mostly on roads and gravel paths and the shoe performed well on both surfaces. I wouldn’t use this shoe for speedwork; most of my runs in the Ghost were daily miles between 7:00 and 7:15 pace.”
